Cultural Exchange Program

Countries: South Africa and the United Arab Emirates | Caribbean, USA and Ghana

Target audience: Students aged 15 - 18

Entry requirements: Video submission/Essay Question

The overall goals of this program are to:

• Promote better understanding by youth from the UAE and South Africa about society, people, institutions, values, history and cultures;

• Foster lasting personal ties;

• Engage the participants in activities that advance mutual understanding, respect for diversity, leadership skills, and understanding civil society during their exchange experience;

• Enhance understanding of other cultures and increase accurate understanding of historical values in different communities;

• Engage youth in post-exchange activities that enhance mutual understanding, respect for diversity, leadership skills and understanding of civil society.

Activities:

• 10 days in the UAE in Year 1 and 10 days in South Africa in Year 2;

• 15 - 20 students from each country;

• Cultural and historical excursions;

• Cross-curricula and cross-cultural project on finding solutions to existing problems in line with the UN's SDGs;

• Volunteer opportunities.
